What have you been playing?

Since the holidays have formally passed, I am curious what games everyone is play and what you think of some of the games from the holiday specials. To start this off here is what I have been up to.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations
I picked this up not to long after it was released in November and played for a while. Firstly, this is a game series I really enjoy, let alone the multiplayer aspects of the game. The game picks up after Brotherhood where we see Ezio traveling to Masyaf, the assassin fortress from the first assassin’s creed game. The game mainly follows Ezio Auditore as he discovers a that the Templars are trying to open a library beneath Masyaf left their by Altair. Ezio is racing through Constantinople to beat the templars to the five keys to open the library. This was the first game in the series that I have to admit, I am not extremely familiar with the timeframe of the fall of Constantinople by the Ottomans, so this game really motivated me to begin to take a look at this aspect of history in a bit more detail so I had some concept of what as going on.
As far as gameplay elements, Ezio is now able to use various bombs he can craft, as well as the hook-blade. The bombs had their uses, but I played through most of the game without really using them in any meaningful way, besides to distract a guard here or there. The hook-blade, similarly I did not often use. The zip lines throughout the city were fairly few and really didn’t get you all that far. They also suffered from the pursuit sequences where the enemies were fairly easy to shake, not like the harrowing runs from the original game.
The inclusion of Altair was nice, however the sequences were very short, and the ones at the end was when Altair was quite old so there was no running across rooftops or running at all, just slowly limping through the level. I wish this area was expanded a bit.
Simply put, this was not the game that Brotherhood was, if you’re a fan of the series and interested in how the story progresses, worth picking up when the price drops a bit, say 20-30 range, but if your interested in the series, the other games of the series would be better to look at.
Batman: Arkham City
I am a huge Batman fan as most people are aware, so this one was a gimme to pick-up. I grabbed it on sale in December, and have spent a lot of time in this one. The game play mechanic improvements and new weapons are actually quite inventive and really did get used a lot in the game. The overall feel of the game was much more open world like then Arkham Asylum, not quite the feel of assassin creed as the size is quite limited in comparison, but there was a lot to see.
For those Batman fans, there is quite a bit you will be able to find throughout the game. Many of the cameos would be completely missed unless you have follow the series over the years. The plot of the game is quite good, I have been a fan of Paul Dini’s stories and this one does not disappoint. A lot of twists and turns to keep the intensity level up and running. The story had one heck of a surprise ending I was not expecting,
I am currently working through this game to complete all the secrets and bonus levels. It’s simply a good game that non-fans of batman will enjoy. This game I will definitely recommend this game for 40-50 dollars, it just that worth it.
Skyrim I picked up but have not sat down to play it just yet.. expect a quick review of that in a couple of weeks. I want to hear from everyone about other games that might be worth picking up.
